Bios

Michael Matteo (drums) – Michael is a native of Western New York. He has been active as a musician and music teacher in many area school districts. He spent many years teaching instrumental and vocal music in the Hempfield Area School District, and presently works as a school administrator in the Gateway School District. Michael also performs with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, where he serves as Principal Percussionist; the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra; the Butler Symphony Orchestra; as well as many local theater companies. Michael is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Duquesne University.

Eric Barchiesi (piano) – Eric, a native of Crabtree, PA, began his musical journey with his first piano lesson on his 7th birthday. After graduating from Latrobe, Eric pursued his love of music at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. At IU, he studied piano with Edward Auer and jazz in an ensemble directed by jazz trumpeter, Dominic Spera. Following IU, he attended the University Of Pittsburgh School of Law. He has been a full-time practicing lawyer in Pittsburgh since 1989. Eric’s music performance history spans decades and includes competing at Lion’s Club Talent Shows as a young teen; playing piano for a big band at age 15; playing piano during his summer college breaks in the tavern at the former Mt. View Inn; and being the house pianist at Chestnut Ridge Inn in the 1990’s.  Along with being a solo artist, he has also musically directed and played keyboard for productions with local theater groups and schools. For many years, he served as liturgical music director and organist at several area churches. Eric continues to be a sideman with a number of local big bands and jazz combos and is the founder and keyboardist for the Powerplay band, an eight-piece local event band. Eric and his family reside in Penn Township.

Dan Lauritzen (bass) – Dan has taught chorus, orchestra, guitar and general music at Harrold Middle School for many years. He has been the vocal director for Hempfield Area High School’s musical productions and has been a guest conductor and/or performer in several choral festivals throughout Westmoreland County. Dan earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree with a concentration in voice from Seton Hill University, Greensburg, PA. At Seton Hill, Dan played in the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds ensemble. Dan has a Master’s equivalency in Music Education from Duquesne University where he studied choral conducting under Dr Brady Allred. Dan has been a bass player and vocalist in various local rock and jazz bands continuously since 1985, and currently plays electric bass and sings in the Greater Works Outreach band. Dan resides in Irwin with his family where he teaches private lessons in voice and strings.
